Prepositions of Time
in, on, at con expresiones de tiempo
En inglés cada uno tiene su preposición: at three o'clock, on Monday, in January, in summer. La traducción literal siempre produce error.
Existe un grupo de expresiones temporales que NO llevan preposición en inglés: next week, last year, every day, this morning, tomorrow, yesterday, this Friday.
Una distinción importante es at night vs in the morning/afternoon/evening. La noche usa at, mientras las otras partes del día usan in. Esto es irregular y hay que memorizarlo. Además, at the weekend es la forma británica y on the weekend es la forma americana — ambas son correctas según la variante usada.
Para años, décadas y siglos: in 1999, in the 1990s, in the 21st century. Para fechas exactas: on March 15th, on the 15th of March. Para horas: at 7:00, at noon, at midnight.
AT → hora exacta / momentos fijos / at night ON → días de la semana / fechas IN → meses / años / estaciones / partes del día (excepto night) at 8 o'clock on Monday in January at noon on March 15th in 2024 at midnight on weekdays in summer at night on my birthday in the morning SIN preposición: next week, last year, every day, this morning
