Like / Would like
'Like' describe algo que disfrutas de manera regular o en general: 'I like pizza.' (La pizza me gusta en general.) Cuando va seguido de un verbo, este toma la forma '-ing': 'I like swimming.' (Me gusta nadar.)
Cuando va seguido de un verbo, este lleva 'to' + infinitivo: 'I would like to eat pizza now.' La forma contraída es 'd like': 'I'd like to go.'
Una trampa frecuente para hispanohablantes es confundir las estructuras de complemento: 'I like to swim' también es posible en inglés americano, pero 'I would like swimming' es incorrecto. 'Would like' siempre va con 'to + infinitivo', nunca con '-ing'.
Para ofrecimientos, se usa 'Would you like...?' (¿Te gustaría...? / ¿Quieres...?). — no 'Yes, I would like' (demasiado largo en la práctica).
LIKE (gusto general/habitual): SUJETO + like/likes + SUSTANTIVO SUJETO + like/likes + VERBO-ing I like coffee. / She likes swimming. WOULD LIKE (deseo puntual / ofrecimiento): SUJETO + would like + SUSTANTIVO SUJETO + would like + to + VERBO_BASE I would like a coffee. / She would like to swim. CONTRACCIÓN: would like → 'd like I'd like to go. / He'd like some water. OFRECIMIENTO: Would you like + SUSTANTIVO / to + VERBO?
