Adverbs of Frequency

always, usually, often, sometimes, never — posición en la oración

Los adverbios de frecuencia indican con qué regularidad sucede algo. La escala va de 'always' (siempre, 100%) hasta 'never' (nunca, 0%). En inglés, estas palabras tienen una posición fija en la oración que no es la misma que en español, donde solemos ponerlos al inicio o al final.

La regla de posición más importante: los adverbios de frecuencia van ANTES del verbo principal, pero DESPUÉS del verbo 'be'. Este es un error muy común en hispanohablantes, que tienden a decir 'I go always to school' o 'She is never punctual' correctamente pero luego dicen 'He always is late' en vez de 'He is always late'.

Con verbos ordinarios como 'work', 'eat', 'play', el adverbio va entre el sujeto y el verbo: 'I usually eat breakfast at 8.' No va al final como en español ('como usualmente el desayuno') ni al inicio como recurso de énfasis.

Con el verbo 'be', el adverbio va DESPUÉS: 'She is always tired.' 'We are never late.' Si intentas poner el adverbio antes de 'be', obtienes una oración incorrecta: 'She always is tired' suena extraño y no es estándar.

Un error crítico: 'never' ya es negativo. No puedes combinarlo con 'don't/doesn't' o 'not'. 'I don't never go there' es una doble negación incorrecta en inglés estándar. La forma correcta es 'I never go there' (afirmativo en forma, negativo en significado).
